More Than Movement: Character Education in PE

In physical education classes, the TPSR (Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility) model helps students develop both physical skills and personal values. By integrating TPSR into PE, teachers go beyond fitness and sports instruction to teach respect, effort, self-management, and leadership. Each lesson includes time for personal reflection and goal setting, encouraging students to take responsibility for their actions and how they treat others. This approach fosters a positive classroom environment where students learn to work as a team, make thoughtful choices, and carry those lessons beyond the gym into everyday life.
