TPSR Resources

Afterschool Programs
For decades, TPSR programs have been implemented in before- and after-school settings. Don Hellison, the founder of the model, did much of his work in these environments. A large body of research supports the effectiveness of TPSR in promoting positive youth development through sport-based programming.

Physical Education
Physical education is recognized as one of the most effective areas of the school curriculum for fostering personal and social responsibility. TPSR supports social and emotional learning in PE. It aligns closely with SHAPE America’s national standards and integrates well with trauma-informed practices.

Adapted PE/Inclusive Sport
TPSR has shown strong value in adapted physical education and inclusive sport programs. Its holistic, student-centered design creates an environment where individual strengths are acknowledged and all participants are encouraged to work toward growth, inclusion, and their personal best.
